Salary Range: $260,000 – $390,000
About the Role
Mintz is seeking an Employment Law Associate with 3+ years of experience to join the firm’s expanding Employment, Labor & Benefits practice in San Diego. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of employment law matters while collaborating with a highly experienced and supportive team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in employment litigation, counseling, and compliance work, along with excellent communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Handle all aspects of employment litigation, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, leaves of absence, wage and hour, non-compete, and breach of contract matters
• Represent clients before state and federal courts, as well as administrative agencies
• Provide day-to-day employment and HR-related counseling to employers
• Draft employment policies and agreements, including employee handbooks, employment agreements, and separation agreements
• Conduct internal workplace investigations
• Deliver employment-related compliance training to clients
• Collaborate closely with attorneys and staff across the firm to support client needs
Work Environment
Collaboration is a key part of the culture and are expected to work approximately 60% in-office, in accordance with the firm’s hybrid work guidelines.
Qualifications
• JD or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school
• Admitted to practice, or eligible for admission, in California
• Minimum of three years of employment law experience
• Experience in employment litigation before state and federal courts and administrative agencies
• Background advising employers on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
• Strong experience drafting employment policies and agreements
• Experience conducting workplace investigations
• Ability to deliver effective employment-related compliance trainings
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment
